Wow, Expo 2018 was an unqualified success! We are so thankful to all of the people who helped make it a success. We had 18 travel travel suppliers in attendance, and around 200 attendees. Not too bad for the first year! We are already planning next year's event, so expect double the size and double the seminars!
The single biggest question that we heard throughout the day is, "How much extra does it cost to use a travel agent?," and for the suppliers, "wouldn't it cost less for me to book directly through you and cut out the middle man?" We were remiss in telling you all that using our services does not cost you a dime, and often, we can a) save you money in the long run with our extensive industry knowledge across all of the lines and b) help you find the right experience for you. So many times, we know of things that you didn't even know to ask about! The reason that this works is that the cruise lines are going to pay commission to SOMEBODY, whether it be their internal agents, an external travel agent (like us), or an online only agent .
As is usual for first ever events, we also learned some valuable lessons on this one -- like make the breakout rooms larger, and have more breakout sessions! A couple of the breakout sessions (or seminars) were so full that people were turned away. Don't worry, we're on this for next year!
Our tentative date for next year's Expo is Saturday, February 9, so save the date! And unlike a lot of travel shows, our ongoing plan to keep this one free to the public every year, so you can save all your money for your actual travel!
